Thank you for looking up this website. We are campaigning to stop Village Roadshow - Warner from their proposed takeover of Werribee Open Range Zoo. They want to use the zoo grounds, the animals and the surrounding crown land (that's land 'owned' by the Victorian People) to build an amusement theme park. Don't get us wrong. We understand how good this looks at first glance. But you've looked this site up, which tells us that you've already realised that there may actually be more to this than meets the eye. So, that's the point of this discussion forum - it's a place to take a good look at what this proposal actually would mean. You can have your say about the issues and make up your own mind about whether you agree with blocking this proposal. And what you can do about it. I was out & about for most of today getting people to sign petitions & telling everyone about what's going to happen to our zoo & most people were very supportive. I only came across 3 people who wouldn't sign the petition. Everyone else I've spoken to is very anti Village. Everyone is equating our protest to the Toxic Dump fight which we won so I hope we have the same result here. I sent two interstate forms to friends in Sydney too as they are totally against it too! I even tried the extinct species website to see what I could find there & it's well worthwhile having a look at it. Everyone can log onto the site that are interested just google endangered species. I've emailed Lynne Kosky, Tim Pallas & John Brumby & I've got 3 pages of signatures so far. I'll be getting some more tomorrow & I reckon it'll all work out for us if we keep at it. So everyone come on board & we'll "beat the bastards".

Wow, Kazbug, you're a POWERHOUSE! Brilliant idea looking up the extinct species website. The issue of safety for conservation and breeding programmes under the proposed regime is a huge area of concern. Worthy of links and conversation in its own thread. Hey, will you start a discussion thread about the Toxic Dump? I don't know anything about how that was won and it's been mentioned a lot by other people. Keep in touch and thanks again.
